V2.0

Version 2.0 of the site is coming along nicely. We have just purchased new hard drives for the server and have completed the list of features that will show up in version 2.0 of the site.
The biggest changes for the management are the following:

• The ability to edit tag information without having to download and re-upload the file.
• The ability to upgrade the underlying framework, f.x. applying security patches, without breaking the site.
• Integrated auditing process.

• Greater flexibility in the categorization of recordings.
• An events module, also published as www.xa-conferences.org, containing a searchable list of conferences posted by users of the site.
• Intelligent management of multiple-bitrate files. No more having to figure out what bitrate you want.
• Integrated upload process. No more FTP and we won't be forced to delete nearly as many uploads.
• Ability to purchase a CD of the talk directly from the taper.

Server problems

The server went offline on friday. We are still trying to figure out why that happened. We will be putting increased effort into getting version 2.0 of the site online, which will allow us to add redundancy so things like this will not happen again.
